Our Beginnings

It began with three engineers from different backgrounds, crossing paths at the same firm.

Stephen Morris began his engineering career in the UK before relocating to Australia. Soyun Punyadasa started his career in Hong Kong before also moving to Australia. Greg Chalmers began his career in Australia, and the three collaborated in various roles at the same company before coming together as the founders of CMP Consulting Group.

They shared a common passion for the water industry and their profession , but each had a distinct work passion. Stephen excelled in design, teaching, mentoring young engineers, and securing significant projects and panels. Soyun was passionate about project management, client relations, team cohesion, project acquisition, and detailed design. Greg had a strong interest in engineering, computations, and technology, collaborating closely with small teams to deliver for clients.

Determined to make a positive change, they decided to embark on a new venture with a clear vision—to lead differently by prioritising people and project outcomes over profitability. This resolution marked the beginning of their journey, eventually leading to the formation of CMP.
